Pre-Installation

Retrofit Dynamic Partitions: EvolutionX 11.8 uses retrofitted dynamic partitions on OnePlus 6-series hardware so Android 16 and its built-in Google Apps suite fit without system partition storage errors. This does not alter your hardware GPT table; flashing back to stock OxygenOS automatically restores standard layout.
Custom Recoveries: Do not use TWRP or OrangeFox. You must use the bundled EvolutionX Recovery (boot.img).
Phone Setup: Verify all hardware/modem functions (VoLTE, VoWiFi, Camera, Bluetooth, GPS) in stock OxygenOS first. Bootloader must be unlocked.
Required Firmware: You must be on OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 in your active slot (enchilada / fajita).
Computer Setup: Use current AOSP platform-tools with working fastboot/adb drivers. On Linux, ensure fastboot and adb are on your $PATH.
Required Files: boot.img, dtbo.img, super_empty.img, vbmeta.img, and EvolutionX-16.0-*-11.8-Unofficial.zip.

Built-in Google Apps

EvolutionX includes Google Apps (Pixel Experience GMS suite) pre-built. You do not need to flash any external GApps packages.

First Time Installation (Clean Flash)

Warning: Data Loss

A clean flash formats userdata, erasing all phone storage. Back up your photos, documents, and important files before proceeding.

Step 4: Check Bootloader Connection

Hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until the screen shows the green "Start" text. Connect the USB cable and verify:

Step 5: Flash Base Partitions & Prepare GPT Space

Step 6: Reboot into Recovery

Use the hardware volume buttons to select Recovery mode and press the Power key. (Phone may vibrate twice before entering recovery).

Step 7: Enter Fastbootd

In EvolutionX Recovery, tap Advanced > Enter fastboot.

Step 8: Wipe Super Partitions

Run these two commands to initialize retrofit dynamic partitions:

Step 9 & 10: Sideload EvolutionX 11.8

On phone: Tap Enter recovery, then select Apply update > Apply from ADB.

Step 11 & 12: Finish Clean Installation

(Recommended) Repeat Step 10 to sideload to the second slot.
In EvolutionX Recovery, select Factory reset > Format data/factory reset and confirm.
Select Reboot system now.

Update Installation (Dirty Flash)

Option 1: OTA / Local Update

Go to Settings > System > System Updates, tap menu > Local update, choose the zip, and install.

Option 2: Recovery Sideload

Reboot to Recovery > Apply update > Apply from ADB:
